Optional: whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, combine the blackberries, sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Gently stir to coat the fruits evenly. Set aside.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining 1/2 cup of sugar.
Gradually add the milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined; do not overmix. The batter will be slightly lumpy, which is perfect.
Pour the batter into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly over the bottom.
Carefully spoon the blackberry and peach mixture over the batter, making sure to distribute the fruits evenly. Do not stir; the fruits will float as it bakes.
Sprinkle the ground cinnamon evenly over the top of the fruit.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the cobbler is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean.
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top, garnished with a few fresh blackberries for an appealing look.
